1. What is a “One Day Makeover”?
Yes, it really does mean that a room, and perhaps several rooms, are redecorated in just one day. Design
decisions are based on the needs and desires of the homeowner, the area to be decorated, and existing furniture, art and accessories. The actual makeover process starts by first clearing the area. Then,
piece by piece, furniture, art and accessories are brought back in. This may include items from other parts of the house. They are beautifully arranged in a comfortable, functional way that accommodates
the specific needs of the homeowner.

2. How is this kind of decorating different from “traditional” decorating?
Traditional decorators profit from selling the homeowner new furniture, rugs, window treatments, art and
accessories. This service is very expensive and reflects the very particular design style of the decorator.
In contrast, our specialty is restyling rooms using your existing furniture, art and accessories. In a matter of a few
hours, you have a `new' room…simply through rearranging what you already own. The difference is astonishing! Professional Arrangement is a new breed of specialized decorating service that doesn't
require the homeowner to start from scratch. It starts with the premise that a room can be made to look special with the things that people already own and either don't want to or can't afford to
replace. A professional arranger looks at things in a new way. By changing placement and eliminating common decorating mistakes, they put objects together in a way that creates the greatest impact and comfort.
Our business is not based on selling you new furnishings. Instead, it is our goal to create beautiful comfortable rooms
that reflect the homeowners personality using only their own furnishings.

3. Why should I try this type of design service? I’m still not so sure of this new concept. I
think I need a traditional designer because my things are old/tired/etc. In short I don’t think my home can be made beautiful with the things I already have.
The concept of re-arranging or re-styling the furnishings in a home or office is a relatively new one. And although it

"Decorating Cents" is a popular show for people looking for affordable, creative ways to redecorate their homes. Most recently, Nickie has teamed with Pier 1 Imports to offer decorating seminars at their stores located in the Washington, D.C. area.

6. How much can I expect to pay?
We meet with the homeowner for a preview consultation to determine their needs, desires and tastes. This
consultation can cover everything from color choices to planned use of the room or rooms. We typically charge $125 per hour for this consultation. Room redesigns generally take from 3 to 5 hours to
complete depending on the size of the room and the amount of furniture to be moved. The cost of a redesign typically runs from $300 to $500, an amount less than the cost of a new chair.

7. What is Real Estate Staging?
Real estate staging is another service we offer to homeowners who are planning to sell their home. A home that
has been redesigned or “staged” for sale “shows” better and sells faster. This is because the homeowners furniture is placed to show off each room in the house to its best
advantage. The result is to create that all important positive first impression that will remain with prospective buyers.
Remember that the first impression of your home is what sells it. Nickie can make that first impression a memorable one
by:

Nickie will help you prioritize any repairs needed such as painting and cleaning and will advise you about what
