Metal is In

Stainless steel Kitchen appliances are popular and will remain so. Copper, Bronze, iron and nickel are also popular, and all can be mixed.
But metals can make a room feel cold, so use them in moderation.

Paint Your Dresser

Painted furniture is very popular now and easily found. One or two pieces can add life to a room. If painting old pieces yourself, check out the wonderful new paint finishes offered.

Color Trends

Black and white is a strong color trend. Don’t want to do an entire room in black and white, try adding touches to make the other colors stand out. For example, a collection of black and white prints on one wall, a black and white zebra rug under the coffee table, black and white candlesticks on a white mantle or a black and floral needlepoint pillow on a sofa can add a little pizzaz to a room.

Counter Top Face Lift

Want to give your laminated kitchen or bath counter a quick face lift? Try a little furniture polish! Yes, enhance the luster by spraying a quality furniture polish directly onto the counter top. Let the white spray sit for about two minutes and then wipe it off in a circular motion with a clean cotton cloth.

Bedroom Painting For Effect

Painting a bedroom? Don't select the lightest shade on the chart. It will make the room appear gray and washed-out. For any space lacking natural light, always select a paint color that is in the middle of the color charts. It will appear lighter on the walls and be more inviting.

Dusting Saves You Money!

Dust those light bulbs! It is not just for fussy housekeepers. As much as 80% of the energy used to produce light from an ordinary lightbulb is wasted due to an accumulation of duston the surface of the glass bulb.
